JEREMY FISK RECORDING
Reporter: Jeremy Williams
To many people Beth Howse was more than a librarian at Fisk University because librarians move books and Ms. Howse moved people. Her summer enrichment program "Mini College" impacted the lives of thousands of young people during its 30 years and Thursday night one of her pupils continued the legacy. Angel Thompson created the Black Culture Arts Extravaganza in honor of Ms. Howse. Thompson is now 24 with her own cultural program ASET Academy of Performing Arts. Her young students sang and danced for the excited crowd and Ms. Howse's colleagues reflected on the librarian's impact. Thompson says this is the event to honor Ms. Howse but there are many to come.
